  • Former Buddhist Monk of 2+ years
  • Instructor for the mindfulness program developed at Google
  • Mindfulness consultant for the Environmental Protection Agency, NOAA, American Red Cross, Ernst & Young, Kaiser Permanente, etc

Hello friend, I'm Sean

After deeply immersing myself in mindfulness practice as a Buddhist monk for 2 years in Thailand, I noticed a shift in the way I related to myself and others that I wanted to bring to the communities around me.

Since then, I have spent the last 15 years focused on teaching people how to teach mindfulness in business, healthcare, coaching, education and governmental agencies.

I've worked alongside mindfulness pioneers such as Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Dr. Gabor Maté, and Sharon Salzberg.

I've also taught mindfulness and meditation for corporations including Tesla, Kaiser Permanente, Facebook, Ernst & Young, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

In 2014, I founded Mindfulness Exercises, where over 20 million people have benefited from the free and premium resources on our site, including mindfulness teacher trainings and live online retreats.

Currently, I serve as a Lead Teacher for this Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, which is a unique, self-paced program balancing pre-recorded sessions with live mentorship and community engagement. Additionally, I serve as an Instructor for Google’s in-house mindfulness program.

Mindfulness is being aware of our moment-to-moment experience without judgment. Simple, but not easy. I'm here to help.

Training and Experience

  • Former Buddhist monk of 2+ years
  • Mindfulness Consultant for Tesla, Facebook, InsightTimer, Kaiser Permanente, Docusign, PG&E, Reddit, Duke University, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and others
  • Certified Instructor for Search Inside Yourself Global (the Mindfulness Program born at Google)
  • Mindfulness Advisor to Balance (Apple’s App Of The Year)
  • Certified Integral Coach, New Ventures West
  • Mindfulness Teacher for Families at Spirit Rock Meditation Center
  • Director of Mindfulness Programs for WellBrain Healthcare
  • Lead instructor for over 2,000 mindfulness teachers worldwide

If you want to teach mindfulness to help others, I'd be honored to support you.

You can do this. Thank you for making this important step that our world so desperately needs.

PS - Here are 3 short videos about my own journey overcoming the imposter syndrome, learning how to teach mindfulness, and making an impact while developing my career.

Since COVID, there has never been a greater demand for certified mindfulness teachers.

Unfortunately, other mindfulness teacher training programs...

  • are either religious or dogmatic in nature
  • don't offer personalized support
  • require long in-person retreats
  • require you to teach a rigid, branded program
  • limit training access to 1 year
  • charge $7,000 or more with annual renewal fees

I created The Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program in 2015 to support professionals who want to teach mindfulness with self-confidence, integrity, care and skill.

To date, we've trained more than 2,000 people in this online program to teach mindfulness in a wide variety of professional settings.

Our graduates have developed their businesses, created more offerings, gained more clients, received promotions and established international credibility in their field.

And they've help hundreds of thousands of people along the way - all in a way that feels authentic, compassionate, and deeply fulfilling.

Self-Paced, Evidence-Based Trainings

The core of this program is 2 comprehensive online courses that will provide professional level training, so you can teach mindfulness and meditation at any level, with any individual or group, online or in-person.

COURSE 1: Mindfulness Teaching Fundamentals

There are 20 lessons in this course, and each is powerful, but short and to-the-point, so you can learn the material quickly and easily.

Here’s just a small sampling of what you’re going to learn in this course:

  • How to teach mindfulness so it ACTUALLY has a meaningful impact on people’s lives
  • How to teach mindfulness with integrity
  • How to find purpose and meaning in teaching mindfulness to others
  • What you need to know about pity, sympathy, empathy, and compassion if you want your students, clients, and patients to be more engaged and get more from your teaching
  • There are specific practices you can do that will help you cultivate compassion, build confidence as a mindfulness teacher, decrease judgements and self-doubts. In this course, you’ll learn what those practices are... and how to do them.
  • Mindfulness isn’t what most people think it is — it’s not about being calm. You’ll learn what it really is about, and how to practice it the right way.
  • If you approach mindfulness focused on results, paradoxically, your results will suffer, or not materialize at all. If you approach mindfulness by respecting and honoring the process, it’s much more likely you and your students will achieve excellent results.
  • What the scientific research has concluded about mindfulness and meditation, and how this can lend credibility and legitimacy to your teaching.
  • The specific attitudes that are critical to adopt as a practitioner of mindfulness, as well as a teacher of it... and how to develop and deepen these attitudes on a continuing basis.
  • The four foundations to teaching mindfulness.
  • How to do loving-kindness meditations, and how to teach and guide others to do them as well.
  • How to cultivate self-compassion, and teach others to do the same. (Self-compassion is so important to developing and strengthening a successful mindfulness practice... and a healthy, happy, engaged life, free from worry, anxiety, and depression.)
  • What to do when you are first getting started as a mindfulness teacher.
  • What “relational skills” are, and how they affect your efficacy as a mindfulness teacher.
  • Common questions you’ll get from students, clients, and patients... and how to answer them. These include: How do I tune out noise and distractions from within and/or the environment? Is it normal to experience changes in my moods, sleep, or dreams? How do I connect to my breath? How do I develop and sustain a meditation practice?
  • How to develop a rapport with your students, clients, or patients that is appropriate, but encourages engagement.
  • How to teach mindfulness to groups... how to manage the composition of the group you are teaching and their interactions...
  • How to manage challenging people within a group dynamic.
  • How to use mindfulness to manage difficult students and situations
  • Mindfulness exercises that YOU can do, to help you be a better mindfulness teacher..
  • Why “pacing” is so important to delivering your mindfulness curriculum in a way that actually helps people... and how to do it
  • Why mindfulness teaching is NOT “stand and deliver” or “lecture time”... why it’s intended to be more interactive... and HOW to do this in an effective and engaging way.
  • What “Inquiry and Didactic” teaching is... and how it can help you as a mindfulness teacher
  • How to appropriately assess yourself as a mindfulness teacher, so you improve... without being unkind or unfair to yourself
  • In this course, you also get complete, word-for-word scripts for 7 guided meditations and mindfulness exercises... and guidance and instructions for teaching and leading these meditations and exercises. The meditations and exercises include: 3 Mindful Breaths, Body Scan Exercise, Focused Attention & Open Awareness Exercise, Just Like Me, Loving-Kindness Exercise, Mindful Eating Exercise, and Mindful Walking Exercise
  • This course also comes with a complete workbook that will help you solidify and retain what you learn as you complete the course.
  • This course also comes with several other mindfulness tools and resources, such as: The Mindfulness Self Assessment Rubric, The MBI:TAC Tool, Adaptations of the MBI:TAC, and MBI:TAC Assessment Sheets
  • And lots more...

COURSE 2: How To Guide Mindfulness Meditations For Well-Being and Resilience

Guiding mindfulness meditations can be tricky.

The 6 in-depth videos and accompanying ebook in this course will help strengthen your ability to lead meditations with integrity, confidence and impact.

Here’s just a small sample of what you’ll learn in this course:

  • One of your primary aims and responsibilities as a mindfulness teacher is to help your student, client, or patient begin to TRUST again... in themselves... in their experience... in their own inner guidance. In this course, you’ll learn all about the path to trusting again, that each mindfulness student must travel, and how to help them along the way.
  • Every person brings their experiences, their world, and their filters into their mindfulness practice, and into the “classroom” with you. In this course, you’ll learn the most helpful and effective way you can respond to and interact with what they bring.
  • Why guiding mindfulness practices is the most important skill for teachers to develop
  • The pros and cons of working with groups
  • Mindfulness isn’t just about being present. There are two more ingredients that are critical. You’ll learn these in the course, and how to teach them.
  • You’ll learn WHY it’s so important to be in the present moment. Many people don’t know the reason, but it’s actually very important.
  • How to skillfully read guided meditations so your students, clients, and patients get the most from each session, even if you have no experience yet.
  • You’ll learn the Being and Doing modes and why it’s important to understand how they affect people’s ability to learn and understand mindfulness.
  • Your state of mind as the teacher and leader is critical. The degree to which you can embody nonjudgmental awareness is a strong determining factor in students’ openness to the teaching and practices.
  • How to use metaphors to teach and help students understand mindfulness... with real examples you can start using right now.
  • How to help students see their personal difficulties as human difficulties, and how this can be a crossroads in their understanding and even a catalyst to personal healing.
  • Why you shouldn’t ‘step in’ and solve students’ problems for them, but rather let them allow their difficulties.. This is a powerful lesson you should not deprive your students of.
  • How to effectively navigate a group dynamic, and help foster a positive learning experience for everyone, even when negative agendas, competition, and pettiness surface among members of the group.
  • The Three Elements needed to skillfully and successfully guide a group through meditation and mindfulness practice.
  • What you can do as a new teacher and meditation leader to help your members be more present during meditations.
  • The importance of the environment in which you teach and lead meditation, and what you can do to make it more conducive to learning, openness, and trust.
  • You’ll learn 3 powerful attitudes that create more space, openness, and presence for most people. Teach your members to embody these attitudes and they can experience much different states than they normally do.
  • How to help students who are worried about having no experience with meditation.
  • Why space and silence are so important in mindfulness, and a highly-effective way to cultivate them in your environment and in your sessions with students and members.
  • Every teacher brings biases and expectations into the room. How to deal with yours effectively, and how to be compassionate with yourself when it doesn’t always work perfectly.
  • Why it’s important to focus on the process, rather than results, and how to convey this to your students and members.
  • Why balance is so important if you lead and teach meditations... and what things you need to balance... and how to actually balance them.
  • Questions and prompts you can use with students to help them notice their experience more.
  • How to make your students feel like they are in the driver’s seat of their own experience, and why this is so important...
  • Common misunderstandings, objections, and questions that you will encounter as a meditation and mindfulness teacher... and how to handle them skillfully.
  • Exact, word-for-word language you can use to invite your students, instead of directing them.
  • The different segments of a meditation session, how to structure your sessions, how to create consistency for students, and how to prepare and systematize things so all of this becomes easier and less time-consuming for you.

How Our Program is Different

Sean Fargo (the creator and head teacher, coach, and mentor of this program) has practiced and taught mindfulness and meditation in a wide variety of settings, with a wide variety of people, in a wide variety of formats.

Sean brings actual experience of practicing and teaching mindfulness and meditation as a monk in a Buddhist monastery — he was a monk for 2 years. He’s also taught and developed mindfulness and meditation programs in large organizations like Fortune 500 corporations (Google, Facebook, Tesla), world-class health organizations (Kaiser Permanente), even government agencies. Sean also brings clinical experience working with doctors to incorporate mindfulness to help patients with chronic pain, experience working in prisons, with teens, with families, and more.

This breadth and depth of experience means that you’ll have direct access to someone who can help you with almost any imaginable situation as it relates to teaching mindfulness and meditation. Past students have found Sean’s unique and widely-varied experiences to be a tremendous advantage in helping them become more successful, and more effective, faster and easier.

The price of this program isn’t too high, and it isn’t too low.

The fact is, there are many programs like this that charge $7,000 - $10,000... but you don’t need to spend anywhere near that to get an accredited certification, build the confidence and skills you need to help people in a meaningful way, and get a comprehensive, done-for-you curriculum that will help you become highly-effective at teaching and coaching people on mindfulness and meditation.

And there are programs like this that are a lot less expensive, but these programs just don’t give you support and access to the people who have the real expertise and experience that you need. The price of my program is high enough so you know you’re going to get real value, but it’s actually affordable, and it’s an investment that can pay you almost immediate returns.

You get lifetime access to everything.

Surprisingly, a lot of similar programs (even the ones that charge very high fees) only give you access to the courses, resources, and support for 1 year, or less! In my program, you get lifetime access to everything, because I want you to know you’re covered after you purchase, and that I’ll be here to help you at every step along the way.

Get direct access to, and personalized coaching from the world’s top mindfulness and meditation teachers and experts.

In this program, you get to attend a live 2-hour Zoom call workshop every single month, with Sean Fargo and a world-renowned mindfulness teacher. Our guest teachers have included Dr. Richie Davidson, Susan Kaiser Greenland, Judson Brewer, David Treleaven, Spring Washam, Dr. Rick Hanson, Dr. Gabor Maté, and many others.

During these live workshops, you can interact with our guest teachers, ask them questions, learn how they teach mindfulness and meditation, and get personalized advice from them on your particular situation, so you can rapidly deepen and advance your mindfulness teaching skills and effectiveness. No other programs that I know of give you this kind of access with mindfulness teachers and experts of this level.

You get coaching and mentoring directly from Sean Fargo and our team for up to 6 hours every week.

Let’s be honest, most programs like this don’t give you a significant amount (or any) direct access to the person who created the program... but this is probably the most important and valuable piece. When you join my program, you get direct access to me every Wednesday from 11am-1pm PST — up to 6 hours per week... so you don’t have to do this alone... so you can ask all your questions and get reliable answers from someone who has the appropriate experience and expertise... so you never get stuck... so you can keep moving forward!

NO travel. NO retreats. NO schedule. NO deadlines. NO pressure. NO stress. NO competitiveness.

Lots of these types of programs REQUIRE you to travel to lengthy and expensive retreats... and do everything on THEIR schedule. And they REQUIRE you to teach THEIR curriculum exactly as it is. All of this makes it MUCH MORE difficult to certify as a mindfulness and meditation teacher, and get better at it.

But heres the thing: you don’t need to do retreats... you don’t need to teach my curriculum exactly as it is... you don’t need to travel... you don’t need to pay tons of money... you don’t need to get everything done in a few months or weeks. In my program, you can take your time... and fit this in where you can. You can teach my curriculum as it is... or you can modify it to fit your needs... or you can teach your own curriculum, that you create from scratch.

With my program, there are no retreats, you never need to travel, you never even have to leave the comfort of your own home. Everything is at YOUR pace, on YOUR schedule... with NO pressure... NO stress... and NO deadlines. It doesn’t have to be HARD to get certified and learn how to help people improve their lives with mindfulness and meditation... it REALLY CAN be easy... and that’s how I’ve designed my program.

Legitimate certification.

Other programs offer certification, but it often comes from a source that’s less than reputable, and of questionable legitimacy. My Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training program is internationally accredited by the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Certification Service.

Established in London in 1996, The Continuing Professional Development Certification Service governs all Continuing Professional Development policies of professional institutions around the world. The CPD Certification Service provides recognized independent CPD accreditation compatible with rigorous global CPD principles.

IMPORTANT: The certification that you receive in my program has been APPROVED by leaders of Fortune 500 companies, large healthcare providers, yoga studios, and school districts around the world.

Done-for-you, plug-and-play curriculum that you cannot get anywhere else.

I just don’t think you’ll find another program that offers anything like this: When you join my program, you get INSTANT ACCESS to my out-of-the-box, plug-and-play, completely done-for-you mindfulness and meditation curriculum that has been proven to be effective. You can even put your own name, brand, and logo on all of it... and you can start using all of it!

My Promise

I spent the last 8 years making this the best mindfulness meditation teacher training program possible. If you register and find something lacking, I promise to address your concerns personally to help you reach your mindfulness teaching goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this program help me if I don’t feel confident teaching mindfulness and meditation? Will this program help me if I feel like an imposter, or a fraud?

Absolutely. I have included lots of information, strategies and mindsets to help you overcome imposter syndrome, and build REAL confidence as a mindfulness and meditation teacher. I made all the mistakes when I was first starting out as a mindfulness and meditation teacher, and I had imposter syndrome, and I struggled with a lack of confidence, and I had LOTS of self-doubt. I’ve been where you are if you’re feeling any of these things, and I can show you how to overcome all of it... and in the program... I will!

There’s A LOT of stuff included in this program... will I be overwhelmed?

This is a question I used to get very frequently when I first introduced this program, 6 years ago. Since then, I’ve made some significant changes to the program to make it much more digestible. The great news is that I rarely hear this issue come up anymore with students in the program.

There is a lot of material included in this program... but I encourage you to see that as a good thing. I’ve included a lot here because I want you have everything you need to quickly and painlessly obtain your certification, gain the confidence and skills you need to actually help people improve their lives, and make teaching mindfulness and meditation a successful part of whatever you do, whether it’s adding it as supplement to your existing business, or building your own mindfulness and meditation teaching and coaching business.

And a helpful mindset to cultivate with regard to the volume of information, content, trainings, and resources in this program is to think of it as a library. We don’t go to the library and feel like we need to read every book. We just take out and read the book we need at this moment, and then we have the luxury of returning to the library at any time we like to read another book. This program is like having lifetime 24/7/365 access to the library — it gives you the luxury of having all of these materials at your disposal for the rest of your life!

Is there still demand for mindfulness teachers and teachings? Am I too late to the game?

Even before COVID-19, the prevalence of mental health issues was increasing rapidly, and now, it’s even worse. There has never been a greater demand for certified, competent, effective mindfulness meditation teachers. With the right skills, tools, and a little compassion, you can become an in-demand mindfulness meditation teacher.

This program exists to help you obtain those skills, tools and everything else you need, including helping you to cultivate more compassion. If you bring a true desire to help others, and you put in the work and time to follow my program, get your certification, and build your confidence and skills, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how in-demand your services will become!

Will this program help me find clients?

While this program doesn’t include specific training on getting clients, almost everything that’s included in the program can help you to get more clients. Building your confidence and skills and efficacy as a mindfulness and meditation teacher will lead to referrals from existing clients.

The certification you receive when you join this program will open MANY doors for you, that were previously closed, which can result in a significant increase in the number of clients you get, and the done-for-you, plug-and-play, 10-week mindfulness and meditation curriculum, 300 mindfulness worksheets, and 200 meditation scripts you get in the program give you all the resources you need, instantly, to be a true professional, and attract many more clients.

What kind of access will I get to Sean Fargo for coaching and mentorship? And how do the live coaching calls and workshops work?

Sean hosts a LIVE weekly 2-hour community coaching call, where you can get all your questions answered and get personalized coaching directly from Sean. These are typically held on Wednesdays from 11 - 1pm PST. These calls are recorded, and you also get access to these recordings in the archive in the Member’s Area.

You also get to attend LIVE guest teacher workshops once a month, which are hosted by Sean, so you will also get access to Sean on these calls as well. These workshops will include a prominent guest mindfulness teacher which you ALSO get direct access to, on the call, for coaching and teaching. These workshops are typically held on a Wednesday from 1 - 3pm PST. These session will also be recorded, and you get lifetime access to these recordings in the archive in the Member’s Area.

These calls and workshops are all optional, and you are welcome to participate as much or as little as you like. You can even attend these calls and just listen if you like.

These coaching calls and workshops will typically include trainings on how to teach mindfulness and meditation with others in personal and professional settings, hot-seat coaching, community sharing, and group reflections to help strengthen your skills and to learn from each other.

Zoom links to our next upcoming coaching calls and online workshops are posted in the Member's Dashboard. Feel free to attend any of the workshops you want - no need to RSVP or attend any particular session. Recordings are posted in the member's section for you to access and practice with anytime.

Can I get CEUs for this training?

Continuing Education Units may be offered in the coming year, but are not available at this time.

Can you tell me more about the certificate accreditation?

Upon completion of the certification program requirements, you will receive a certification from The Continuing Professional Development Certification Service (CPD). We worked with the CPD Certification Service for several months to meet and exceed their strict requirements for international accreditation of a course like this.

This Certification has been approved by leaders of Fortune 500 companies, large healthcare providers, yoga studios, and school districts around the world.

Completing this Mindfulness Teacher Training Program will benefit your continuing education, strengthen your resume, and serve as a beneficial stepping stone for further professional training. If in doubt, check with your prospective clients or students to be certain this is acceptable.

Is financial support available?

Mindfulness Exercises, LLC is offering a very limited number of partial scholarships based on true financial need and commitment to teaching in your community. Please do not apply for a scholarship unless you have true financial need. To receive a scholarship application, email [email protected]

How will this program benefit me? What have others accomplished with it?

Many people from our program have gone on to teach mindfulness meditation in major Fortune 500 corporations, large healthcare organizations, yoga studios, counseling centers, school districts, coaching programs, family retreats, prison systems, and meditation centers. The Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program can help you:

  • Lead a mindfulness program within a company or wellness center
  • Grow as a consultant, coach, author, or trainer
  • Increase your influence as a meditation teacher online and in your community
  • Integrate mindfulness into counseling, yoga, massage, reiki, hypnotherapy and more
  • Incorporate mindfulness into education, nursing, caregiving
  • And more...

What if I have unhealed trauma or psychiatric challenges?

Mindfulness can be a powerful addition to psychotherapy and psychiatric care. However, this training is not a substitute or replacement for psychiatric care or therapy.

Please speak with a mental health professional about whether this program is right for you, follow the guidance in Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness before joining the program, and see our Terms and Conditions for liability details.

Is this program, and its materials, Buddhist, or religious?

No, this program and all of its materials are secular, evidence-based mindfulness exercises, practices, and meditations meant for enhancing nonjudgmental, moment-to-moment awareness of experience. Nothing in this program is dogmatic or religious.

Is anything sent to me in the mail?

Nothing will be sent in the mail. This program is 100% digital, which means you can download and/or access everything in this program from the internet. Regardless of which package you select above (Full or Basic), you get INSTANT ONLINE ACCESS to everything, immediately after you place your order, even if it’s 2 o’clock in the morning... so you can get started RIGHT NOW.

Can I really put my name, brand and logo on everything in the Curriculum?

Yes. I designed these materials to be white-labeled, meaning they are all written, designed, and produced for you already, but you get to put YOUR name, brand, company name, and logo on them so you can use them to establish a professional reputation in this field INSTANTLY.

Can I put my name, brand and logo on the 200 Guided Meditation Scripts and 300 Mindfulness Worksheets?

No, unfortunately, the 200 Guided Meditation Scripts and the 300 Mindfulness Worksheets are NOT brandable. There are two things you CANNOT do with the 200 Guided Meditation Scripts and the 300 Mindfulness Worksheets, and those are: rebrand them or resell them as they are.

But, you CAN do a lot of other great stuff with them. With the 200 Guided Meditation Scripts, you can read them aloud for individuals or groups, you can use them to make audio and video recordings, you can share those recordings online, you can play them during meditation sessions you are leading, and you can sell those recordings too. You can also edit the language or modify the scripts however you like for the sake of guiding people in your own voice and in a way that feels comfortable to you.

With the 300 Mindfulness Worksheets, you can download them, print them out, give them to your clients, students, or patients so they can write their answers and reflections on the printouts with pen or pencil. You can also give them to your clients, students, or patients as digital PDF files and they can type their answers or reflections directly into the PDF files, and then save them after they make their entries. You can use the worksheets as opt-ins, giveaways, and/or post them on your website, and you can use them as inspiration to create your own worksheets.

Again, the only things you can’t do with the 200 Guided Meditation Scripts and the 300 Mindfulness Worksheets is resell them as they are and rebrand them.
